Etihad Airways Launches Promotions In Support Of Summer In Abu Dhabi

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), announced its promotions to add boost to the "Summer in Abu Dhabi", the six-week family carnival that promises a packed programme of activities and entertainment for all ages.

In statements at Abu Dhabi Palace Hotel, Etihad's Head of Corporate Communications, Hareb Al Muhairy said this festival is certain to attract visitors from across the region to the UAE capital, reports the Emirates news agency (WAM).

"Using its big fleet, 47 aircraft (including 3 for cargo), Etihad Airways is now operating 900 flights/ week this current summer, compared to 700 flights/ week last year, a growth by 15 per cent, he added.

Launched Thursday to run for 46 days, Summer in Abu Dhabi is a mega-production featureing a multi-national star-studded cast of over 200 performers from 12 countries - the Saudi Arabia, United Kingdom, France, Czech Republic, Poland, Russia, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, South Africa and the UAE.

The second-year annual carnival is evolving into one of the biggest family attractions on the Arabian Gulf event calendar. This year, Summer in Abu Dhabi is bigger and much wider in scope and offering than last year's inaugural event, which quickly went on to win regional honours, WAM said.

Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) is launching Summer in Abu Dhabi at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre's (ADNEC) atrium and seven, fully air-conditioned halls.

The six-week family carnival promises a packed programme of activities and entertainment for all ages looking for culture, action, adventure or sporting events.

On June 28, the UAE's national airline has extended its services for premium passengers who depart from or transit through Abu Dhabi airport, with the introduction of specially trained nannies to its lounges in Terminal 3.

The nannies initially meet and greet the children at the lounge entrance before taking them to the family room. Children can play with the toys, read books and watch television all under supervision of the nannies that have professional training in childcare and first aid.

Earlier last month, Etihad Airways has launched a special 'June Festival' sales promotion which offers UAE travellers amazing fares to an array of global destinations which include London, Milan, Manchester, Johannesburg and New York. On 31 May, Etihad said it is anticipating summer 2009 to be its busiest ever, especially with the new Mediterranean destinations of Athens, Istanbul and Larnaca set to join its global flight network.
