UAE Department of Civil Aviation

The Dubai Department of Civil Aviation has commenced implementation of a project to restructure its organizational set up following directives of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council.

The Department of Civil Aviation was established on March 18th, 1971 to handle all matters relating to airport operations - including granting traffic rights and operating permissions - within one authority, providing the cohesive direction that has marked the progress of aviation in Dubai ever since.

The Department of Civil Aviation Dubai has received the ISO 9001-2000 certification for Quality Management System. HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Department of Civil Aviation, Dubai and Chairman of Emirates Group received the certificate from Mr. Stephen Seddon, Manager, Systems and Services Certification, SGS International, a Swiss company and the world's largest certification body, particularly in the area of airport operations.

Division of DCA

IA Division

Internal Audit Division was established as an independent, objective assurance, and consulting activity ?designed to add value and improve DCA operations. The main objective of ID division is the same as the main objective DCA mission. The mission of ID division was to assist DCA management and staff in operating Civil Aviation Facilities by reaching full ?operating potential. Internal audit activities are performed in diverse legal and cultural environments; within ?organizations that vary in purpose, size, complexity, and structure; and by persons within or ?outside the organization. While differences may affect the practice of internal auditing in each ?environment, compliance with the International Standards for the Professional Practice of ?Internal Auditing is essential if the responsibilities of internal auditors are to be met.

IT Division

IT division came about once the need was foreseen and realized by our President H.H. Sheikh Ahmed as part of the e-government initiative. Initially the objective was to handle the UFIS (Universal Flight Information System), providing accurate flight information system to the airport and its valued customers. As time went by new objectives and goals had to be achieved. In such a growing organization an assertive mission has to be set to make sure all goals are achieved systematically and deliverables are produced on time. Hence the IT department has set itself a mission:

Engineering Services Division

The mission of this division is to engineer and maintain Airports and other civil aviation facilities to the highest standard. This division are committed to:

  • Continuous improvement of the services of our organization
